Valentine gift ideas for every budget

Valentine’s Day. Here in Manila, it means one thing – horrendous traffic! Haha. I don’t really celebrate it, but here are some simple ideas in three price points.

A quirky card
Budget: Cheapangga (under PhP 100)
For: Your significant other

Write a heartfelt note to your loved one on these cards:

A closer look will reveal the true message:

I think writing your true feelings is even harder than giving a gift, or flowers, or going on a V-day date. So that makes this simple gesture an extra special one. But, with these, make sure the recipient has a sense of humor. Love the typography, too!

Saw them at Wrap Central, I think it was a kiosk on the 4th level at the new Mega Fashion Hall at SM Megamall. Each card is PhP 65.

Yummiest Bocaditos ever from Baked by Anita
Budget: Keri lang (PhP 300-500)
For: Your significant other or yourself!

You can’t go wrong with food. And this is good food – Wild Mushroom with Gruyere and White Truffle bocaditos (pastry snack). They’re PhP 65 each, but you should buy them by the box (they have pretty gift boxes). It’s perfect for Valentine’s because this particular flavor is marked with a heart:

You can also buy them frozen in packs of 4 at PhP 260, 6 at PhP 390, which you can heat in your oven at home. They’ll put it in a foil bag with a mini ice pack.

Other flavors include Chicken and Mushroom in Marsala Cream, Baby Spinach with French Goat Cheese and Pine Nuts, Spicy Italian Sausage with Roasted Bell Peppers, and Chili-Lime Tuna with Black Olives. They also have cupcakes, but haven’t tried those.

Find Baked by Anita at the 5th level of SM Mega Fashion Hall.

Local Handmade Jewelry from AM+PM by Alchemista
Budget: Bongga (PhP 1,700 and up)
For: Your (lady) significant other or yourself!

My favorites are the stacking rings and the convertible earrings. They’re sterling silver dipped in 24k gold, with various semi-precious stones – so they’re still affordable compared to solid gold jewelry.

Small stacking rings start at PhP 1,700 each. Larger stacking rings are about PhP 3,000. You can wear them alone or all together.

The earrings are lovely, too. The dangles (bottom stones) are detachable, so you can wear the top stones as studs. They’ve got different shapes for the dangles (pear, oval, emerald cut) and color combinations, too (about PhP 3,500).

Find AM+PM by Alchemista at the ground level of – yes, you guessed it – SM Mega Fashion Hall.

Ok, so maybe this is more of a post on the Mega Fashion Hall more than it is about Valentine’s… Not a sponsored post – It’s just near where I work!

Happy hearts day!

– Jo 🙂
