Film Canister Magnet

This is a DIY project inspired by Photojojo’s film roll magnets.

If you still shoot film, ask the developer for the film canisters back. I rarely use film nowadays so I only have one canister. But this is a two-step project so I made it anyway.

What you need:

  1. empty film canister
  2. magnetic tape (I had some leftover from the washi magnets project)


Step 1: Cut a small strip of the magnetic tape. Measure it to the height of the canister.

Step 2: Stick it to the canister. This magnetic tape already has an adhesive side (Get it at Ace Hardware).


That’s it! Use it for photography-related reminders on the fridge:
